GREEN SYNTHESIS OF COPPER NANOPARTICLES FROM MYRTUS COMMUNIS LEAVES EXTRACT: CHARACTERIZATTION, ANTIOXIDANT AND CATALYTIC ACTIVITY

A simple, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly method for making green nanoparticles has been developed. The current study examines the use of M. communis leaves extract in biosynthesis copper (CuNPs). color change UV-visible spectrophotometer, which showed a distinct peak at 481nm, confirmed formation these particles. Isolation procedures of two new acylphloroglucinols, myrtucommulone-A and myrtucommulone-B, from Myrtus communis leaves are given. Myrtucommulone-A was highly antibacterial against gram-positive bacteria but was not active against gram negatives. The chemical relation to other acylphloroglucinols and the antibacterial activity of the compounds isolated are discussed.
